Museum established in 1935 on the campus of Texas Technological College through the efforts of Dr. W.C. Holden, who also organized the West Texas Museum Association. Opened in 1937, the museum gradually grew and expanded. In 1971 it moved to its present location on 4th Street and was known as the Museum of Texas Tech.
